Are these lights easy to install?
Yes, first you will need to mount the fixture to the wall with two screws. Then you will need to supply electricity to the light fixture. This can be done by simply plugging in the cord to an outlet if you purchase the corded models, or fixtures with out the cord are very similar to installing a standard flush mount light fixture.

Where are the best places in my home to mount the Home Safety Light?
You can mount them anywhere you would like to and that you feel would provide lighting to an area that may need to be accessed during a power outage or in the path leading to an exit in the case that there is a fire or other emergency. We do recommend that one emergency light is installed next to the electrical breaker panel, at the minimum of one light per level of your home, and one at the top of each stairwell in your home. As for the exit lights those should be mounted low to the door handle side of every exit in your home, we recommend the exit signs are placed at a minimum of 6 inches from the bottom of the light off of the floor, but no higher than 24"

What do I need to do to maintain these lights?
It is recommended that you disconnect the power from the fixtures once a month for about 20 min.; this will exercise the battery to help prolong the life of the batteries. Don’t for get to plug or turn the power back on to the light after you have tested it. Once the light doesn’t stay illuminated for the 20 minute test period, then it is time to replace the battery.

What happens if I don't test the light fixtures?
Nothing, but it is recommended so that you can tell when your battery is coming to the end of its life. The average life span of these batteries varies on how often the light is used, the environment the fixture is in, and the average temperature in the area the fixture is placed. The batteries have been known to last upwards to 8 years but some others have only lasted for 4 years, because of this variation that’s why we recommend the regular testing of the lights.
